Part is sintered on the outside but crumbly on the inside

This happens when the part debinds correctly but doesn’t fully sinter. Either the furnace didn’t get the part hot enough, or the part was not at the sinter temperature for long enough.

Things to try:

  • Test your kiln temperature with a thermocouple. Sometimes the actual temperature of the kiln is different from the readout. If you find a difference, adjust your programmed temperatures to accommodate for that.
  • Hold the sinter temperature for a longer time.
